Summer has gone by at a brisk pace and we are delighted to get back to our Social Impact Photo Contest Together we’re Stronger, co-organized with Axylia, ArtMajeur, Sinny & Ooko / LaRecyclerie and our communication partners.
The contest laureate
The vote of the public and that of our jury had allowed us to determine the 15 finalists among 401 participants from 45 countries.
Following this selection, a vernissage evening was organized at la Recyclerie on June 29, 2018. During this event, hundreds of people hastened to vote for their favorite shot. After a rigorous tally supervised by U2GUIDE, SINGA and Sinny & Ooko, and with a single vote of difference, Monica Ninker was determined as our 2018 winner.
I am originally from Mexico City and I am a lifestyle
photographer with a passion for photographing people!
Nothing makes me happier than meeting new people and telling their story. Every time I photograph I know I am doing the right thing with my life. I started in advertising and interior design but knew my heart was most happy as a photographer.
I love to watch and explore. I moved to Chicago last year after 6 years of living in Shanghai, China. (We were
transferred there though to my husband’s job). Living there gave me the opportunity to develop my passion 100%.
Traveling to some of the most beautiful destinations across Asia, creating a collection of images of the people and places which I denominated “A Visual Journey“. As a Getty Images exclusive artist, my photographs have been published extensively worldwide in a large variety of media.
As planned and thanks to the co-organizers’ teams, SINGA and also some volunteers who had joined the opening, the evening at La Recyclerie was a success. Hundreds of visitors were able to discover the pictures of the 15 finalists while enjoying a friendly moment and listening to DJ EVERYDAYZ’s excellent DJ SET.
The highlight of the evening, besides the public vote: the testimony of Inamullah SAYED, one of the beneficiaries of the SINGA program
Impact of the contest: underwhelming results
Despite all our efforts, the sale of the photographs didn’t meet our expectations. Only ten photos have been sold, despite their amazing quality.
All in all, and including the generous donation of Axylia, it is a donation of 548 € that will be given to SINGA.
However, you can still change that and order one more picture until September 30, 2018. The opportunity to have a beautiful picture while helping refugees…
