Focus on Our Partner NGOs: SINGA France

According to a study of 2013, only 13% of refugees have ever had contact with local people in France. This suggests the level of exclusion. On the other hand, a study showed that 21 million French people want to do more for refugees. Created by a citizen movement, SINGA France aims to create a link between refugees and their host society. Through entrepreneurship, digital technology and encounters, the 25,000 members of the community (including 3,000 refugees) generate a local, social, economic and cultural impact that promotes the construction of a common society.

SINGA is present in 12 cities in France and abroad and develops tools for each citizen who wish to participate in the reception of refugees. The association is currently focusing on 3 main projects: CALM, FINKELA and the PASSION program.

The CALM Platform to Help Find a Room and Much More

The CALM platform enables refugees who seek a temporary place to stay to be in contact with citizens who have a room to receive them. Most newcomers who participated in CALM highlighted the encounters, the humanism linked to the program and the learning of French culture and language. Beyond this human aspect, the program has freed up time for their job searches. It is even more impactful when we know that professional downgrading affects 36% of refugees. Most experiences via the CALM platform go very well. In 9 months, on average, people speak French, have a job and accommodation.

The FINKELA Incubator to Unlock Everyone’s Potential

From an entrepreneurial point of view, FINKELA is the incubator for new innovative projects. The incubator is open to everyone as long as they have the right to work in France. This program aims to support the economic impact of the refugees by accompanying them in their projects. Thus, FINKELA supports both refugee and non-refugee project leaders. This program was launched in 2016 and has since then supported 36 promising and innovative projects in various fields: art, fashion, culture, technology, catering, professional integration, consulting… Each project receives several types of help such as individualised follow-up, networking with experts and professionals or the provision of a workspace. Today, people who could not read have become business leaders. The important thing to say is “it is possible”.

The PASSION Program to Foster Relationships

Finally, the PASSION program was created to connect refugees with citizens, based on their common passions and skills. This program is inspired by the concept of “Buddy”: being a Buddy is about making an amazing and rewarding encounter. Buddies are pairs of refugees and members of the host society. The purpose of the program is to share important moments over picnics, movies, amusement parks outings, parties, parades or concerts and to discuss many topics such as languages, museums, coding, dance, photography, cooking, theatres, etc. Everyone can be part of this program, which allows everyone to meet and learn from each other!
